Your piece is handmade and should be handled with care. If you love your sterling silver jewelry it will love you back!

In order to keep your sterling silver jewelry looking its best, store in a cool, dry place away from other jewelry, preferably in an anti-tarnish bag.

Keep in mind that silver and some semi-precious stones and natural materials such as shells can be scratched or chipped easily (i.e. mother of pearl, amber, and opals). It is best to store your jewelry separately and be careful during wear to prevent this from happening. Take your rings off when working with your hands, washing dishes, swimming, showering, bowling, gardening, cleaning, exercising...you get the idea.

Most importantly, try to keep it as dry as possible during wear. Avoid exposing it to water, chemicals (especially those containing chlorine or ammonia), sweat, lotions, or perfumes. Do not swim with your jewelry on. Yell at your friends for jumping in the pool with their jewelry on! Exposing silver to moisture and humidity will speed up tarnish. Chemicals will also speed up tarnish and can harm the metal and gemstones. Some stones are soft and can become fractured or discolored over time from excessive exposure to extreme temperatures and water submersion.

Clean jewelry with a damp cloth or cotton swab. If it is especially yucky, you can use a little dish soap on a soft toothbrush - just make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards. Never use any jewelry solvents/cleaners or ultrasonic/steam cleaners as they can damage stones. If you begin to notice tarnish on your piece, you can use a polishing cloth to remove it (only on polished pieces). Contact me to purchase one. Most of my pieces have a satin finish. Do not use polishing cloths on pieces with a satin finish, as it will remove the finish. Do not hesitate to contact me in this case, as I can easily send you a little piece of polishing paper to gently sand your piece with, or I can re-brush your jewelry or chemically treat it to remove tarnish at no cost. If you’re comfortable doing so, you can very gently “sand” your jewelry with a green scotch-brite scrubby pad and it will re-apply a matte finish to the piece.

I do my best to ensure that your jewelry will last, but I am not a machine and things *can* happen. If there are any issues with your purchase, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Please make sure to read over my terms & conditions. The cost of refinishing and repairs will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
